Established in 2008 by Rachel Beider as a one-treatment room private practice, PRESS Modern Massage was originally known as ‘Massage Williamsburg’. Today PRESS has over 70 staff members and 4 locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Union Square, and our newest Columbus Circle studio make up the current PRESS family. PRESS grew out of the desire to unify all of the award-winning massage studios under one family name. The studios have massaged over 50,000 individual clients with one main goal: to help you feel so much better than you did when you walked in.  

The Drive Behind PRESS Rachel grew up with scoliosis and knows firsthand what it’s like to struggle with pain and search for relief. After becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist, Rachel worked for a surgeon who performed mastectomies for women with breast cancer, assisting recovery with the massage. She later worked for a physical therapy studio on injuries and in preventative medicine. This fueled her desire to create a space for helping and healing through science-backed, clinical orthopedic massage.

 14 years later, PRESS’ rapid growth has united residents across Brooklyn and Manhattan in advocating for a livable city with local holistic healing and self-care solutions, giving an organic rise to the local wellness community. Therefore, PRESS Modern Massage continues to serve an ever-growing list of communities in New York. “As a small business, it’s important for us to invest in our communities, from hiring and buying locally to investing our time and resources with local nonprofits and groups,” said Beider.

In March 2019, PRESS was named Brooklyn Hero of the Month by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams for giving away over $10,000 of free massages for furloughed government workers during the shutdown. “We look forward to bringing the same compassionate, healing energy here by serving and giving back to the community”.

As a welcome to neighbors, the newest PRESS studio at Columbus Circle is offering $20 off any massage for new clients. Massages start at $150/hour and packages are available at a 10% discount. Through newly-formed partnerships, PRESS clients can also receive discounts at nearby wellness centers, make-up studios, fitness & gyms, and more!
