Business Spotlight: Buy Better Foods

In recognition of Black History Month, PRESS is spotlighting a local business we love: Buy Better Foods in Bed-Stuy, located at 372 Kosciuszko St.

Buy Better Foods is a black, woman, and LGBTQ+-owned natural food market offering bulk groceries, organic produce, vitamins, supplements, and wellness products along with speciality, black-owned, and vegan-friendly products.

Myriam Simpierre, a Haitian-born resident of Bed-Stuy, opened Buy Better Foods in April 2020 to help simplify healthier eating in communities like her own.

Simpierre dreamed of owning a store as her mother did, especially after experiencing the life-changing effects that a few dietary adjustments brought her. Her plans to open BBF came together right at the onset of COVID-19, but since her store is categorized as an essential business, she opted to open her doors anyway.

Since then, Buy Better Foods has been serving the Bed-Stuy and surrounding community, and has been featured on News 12, NY1, and Black-owned Brooklyn.

Simpierre plans to begin offering chef-demos and educational workshops online in 2021. Stop by their website to join their mailing list for updates!

Buy Better Foods is open Monday-Saturday, from 9am-7pm (closed on Sunday).

You can shop for BBF products online for in-store pickup to support the business directly, or order from Mercato, Seamless, or UberEats.
