This simple technique may help you stretch your way out of neck pain - and quickly, too! All you need is a wall for reference.
Christian, LMT at PRESS Greenpoint, demonstrates how to align and lengthen the neck in this short clip.
Neck & Upper Back Stretch:
1. Stand up straight with your back against the wall. Slightly separate your feet for stability.
2. Place the back of your head on the wall. Tuck your chin to lengthen the back of the neck. Take a few breaths, allowing your shoulders to relax.
3. Slowly tilt the head side-to-side in both directions. Keep your head against the wall the entire time. Pause and breath deeply wherever you feel the stretch.
Try this stretch 2-3 times daily for routine maintenance.
